Adjusting your checkout traffic
With Rally, you have the ability to send a % of your shoppers to the Rally checkout. See below for how merchants typically use this feature, and how to adjust your checkout traffic.
First! An important note on your shopper experience:
The checkout session is "sticky" to whatever version of the checkout a shopper was originally directed to.
For example: a shopper clicks 'Checkout,' and subsequently leaves the checkout for some reason... they will always come back to whichever version of the checkout they were directed to at the beginning of the checkout session.
How to use this feature:
Our top-performing merchants typically utilize the traffic % feature to run 50% traffic through their existing checkout and 50% traffic through their upgraded Rally checkout for 15-30.
This is an easy and fast way to verify the ROI you will see using Rally!
During this time running a % of traffic, the two most important metrics to keep an eye on are your checkout conversion rate and average order value.
When using this feature, it's very important to keep in mind:
- The ability to draw conclusions from splitting your traffic between checkouts depends on your order volume. Lower order volume = harder to dig into your analytics as the sample size may be too small over just 15-30 days.
- Checkout conversion rate is often difficult or impossible to determine from the analytics offered by your ecommerce platform, despite the fact it is one of the most important analytics to keep track of! The checkout is the point of conversion, and it can make or break your shopper experience.
- Running traffic through your native checkout and not your new Rally checkout means those shoppers won't see post-purchase offers.
- It's important to run as much traffic as possible to post-purchase offers so you can determine what resonates with shoppers and make adjustments to price and products offered to maximize your revenue.
Don't hesitate to reach out to Support (support@rallyon.com) or your Customer Success Manager for guidance on digging into analytics your native checkout doesn't provide out of the box, and the ideal amount of time to run your traffic 50/50 depending on the volume of orders you process.
How to set your percentage of traffic:
Toggle to 'Checkout' on the left side of the menu in the Rally Admin. Then click 'Traffic' and pull the percentage of traffic to 50%:
