Order Bumps offer a pre-purchase upsell that can be utilized to increase AOV.
Customers across all devices can now be offered products via order bumps within the checkout. The order bumps will be surfaced with the order summary and, if accepted, become a part of the original cart before the customer checks out.
The offers will be shown to the customers while they are in the checkout, and if accepted will be added to the initial order, before the customer has completed their checkout. Customers will then be shown Post Purchase Offers if they qualify for them through the funnels the merchant has set up. You will be able to utilize Order Bumps along with Post Purchase Offers, and the two do not have a direct relationship. However, remember that the criteria for Post Purchase Offers is based off of the cart, which the order bumps will be a part of.
How to Setup:
- Navigate to the ‘Order bumps’ tab in the Rally admin
- Select the green ‘+ Order Bump’ button in upper right corner to create a new order bump funnel
- Add your desired rule(s) (criteria)
- All the same criteria are available as with PPO’s!
- Add products to bump (max of 20, recommended 1-4)
- Customize product to bump by limiting variants and/or customizing price
- Finally, enable your new order bump funnel!
Can a shopper see multiple order bump funnels during checkout?
If a shopper leaves checkout, updates their cart, and returns to checkout the order bump funnel will recalculate and they may be shown new/different products in the order bump area
Can a shopper remove an order bump product from their cart in checkout if they change their mind?
Nope, they must go back to their cart on the storefront and update there
Internal note: please keep track of merchant/shopper feedback - this product decision was made to reduce shopper decisions in checkout but we can add in the future if there is sufficient evidence this feature is needed
Are order bumps and post purchase offers related at all?
Not technically. However, because an accepted order bump becomes a part of a shoppers cart it then is used as part of the qualifying criteria for any post purchase funnels the shopper may be eligible for
Example: Shopper accepts order bump for a candle, merchant has a funnel set up where the criteria is: if the candle is purchased, display PPO for a usb rechargeable lighter. Shopper would now be shown the PPO for the usb rechargeable lighter.
Can order bumps be used with BNPL?
YES! Unlike PPO's, because order bump products are added to the cart pre-purchase, shoppers using BNPL will be approved for the entire amount - including these AOV boosting offers!
